Turkish carpets

Today we were taken to a local carpet weaving business. We were given a demonstration of how they extract silk from the silk cocoon and turn it in to thread and how the carpets are made. It was fascinating to see how much work goes in to one carpet. This was followed by a special lunch made by a local family, we were treated to a lot of local delicacies. After lunch we visited the Virgin Mary's house and the ancient site of Ephesus. The largest example of ancient civilisation. The city housed 240,000 people and dates back 2,500 years.
