On ya bike

Saturday dawns a glorious morning and with the Women’s Singles Final not till 7.30pm, Ed and I decide to hire some bikes and explore Melbourne on wheels. We head down to Southgate near Federation Square and spot signs for "Rentabike”. From our hotel, The Mercure on Swanston, this is only a 10 minute stroll.

Time for tennis

We've purchased tickets through Calder & Lawson House of Travel for the last four days of the Aussie Tennis Open. Sure we could have booked them online but for the second time we've done it through Calder & Lawson because it guarantees us great seats which are out of the sun

Out and about in Melbourne

As enticing as the shops are, we’ve hired a car and are heading to the Dandenong Ranges. Once through the suburbs we enter the eucalyptus forest, towering above us long straight trunks soar to the sky, protected by the canopy tree ferns flourish below. It is beautiful. We stop just shy of the village of Kallista at Grants Picnic Ground. Here 20-30 enthusiastic cockatoos and multi-coloured rosella birds greet us, looking to us to feed them, it isn’t long before one settles on Cea’s shoulder! It sits quite happily there for some time until we move on to walk one of the three loop tracks on offer.

Melbourne - Retail Therapy Paradise

There's nothing better than coming back from holidaying overseas with something different to the standard chain store purchase. Melbourne doesn't disappoint, in fact it's retail heaven. Clothes, homeware and, for the sanity of my husband, motorbike shops all in the CBD - everyone's happy. In fact I could actually open a shoe shop, short of not wanting to part with any of the pairs I've bought.
